The Batsto Quilters Quilt & Art Show that was held at Batsto Village
on June 9, 2002 . This was the first such show at Batsto Village hosted by The Batsto
Quilters. There were many artists showing their crafts. Members displayed
their quilts at different locations throughout Batsto Village; some were displayed at the
General Store and at the cottages. Special demonstrations and lectures were hosted
by different Batsto Quilters members. One key project that was initiated was the
Kids' Quilt, where children could make their own quilt block by using a special fabric
crayon to draw a picture on a piece of paper; then the drawing will be transferred into a
special fabric that will be sewn together into a full size quilt. The Kids' Quilt
will then become a historic quilt that will be on permanent display at the Batsto
Quilters' Cottage (Cottage #42).

This Heart Quilt greeted visitors as they approached Cottage #42, the home of The
Batsto Quilters at Batsto Village, NJ.
BQ members Sharon Densten and Linda Iwaniw demonstrate to some young visitors how rag
dolls were made for children at Batsto Village.
Here Sharon helps the youngster make their own rag dolls.
BQ member Linda Iwaniw works with the children in creating their own drawings to be
included in the Kids' Quilt historic project. Linda is shown explaining how the
quilt is going to be put together.

Visitors to the 1st Annual Batsto Quilters Quilt and Art Show view the different
artist displays.
Many of The Batsto Quilters displayed their completed quilts at the upper level over
the General Store..
Many different items, utilizing quilt patches, were displayed for visitors to view.
A Batsto Quilter shows visitors the intricate work that goes into making a quilt.
The Batsto Quilters temporarily took over The Sewing Cottage (Cottage #37) for
displaying the different types of sewing machines that have been used by quilters
throughout history. BQ member Libby Hage gave visitors a short history of the sewing
machine and it's use in quilt making. (Sewing Cottage)
Many quilt tops that were made by various BQ members were also displayed at The Batsto
Quilters Cottage (Cottage #42).
On display, at the Visitor's Center, were Victorian Crazy Quilts that were created by
BQ members.
Prize winning Crazy Quilt items were prominently displayed at the Visitor's Center.
